Antiparos is one of those rare islands where even the most popular beaches feel uncrowded. Small, unspoiled, and still largely off the radar of mass tourism, the island's coastline is a succession of secret coves, turquoise bays, and long sandy stretches backed by rugged hills. After years of living here and welcoming guests, we've compiled our honest guide to the beaches you must not miss.

The Classics — Beaches Everyone Loves

Faneromeni Beach

Without a doubt the most beautiful beach on the island. Faneromeni sits on the east coast, about 3 km from Antiparos Hora, and offers a long crescent of fine golden sand lapped by water that goes from turquoise to deep blue in a matter of metres. There's a small beach bar for cold drinks and shade umbrellas, but the beach is large enough that you'll always find a quiet spot. Go early in the morning or just before sunset for the best light.

Psaraliki Beach

Located just south of the ferry port, Psaraliki is the island's most accessible beach — a 5-minute walk from the harbour. It's divided into two coves: Psaraliki 1 (with sunbeds and a bar) and Psaraliki 2 (wilder, quieter). The water is perfectly calm, making it ideal for families with children or for an early-morning swim before breakfast in the village. This is the beach we recommend to guests who want convenience without sacrificing beauty.

Agios Georgios

Drive to the south of the island and you'll find Agios Georgios, a wide sandy beach near the small village of the same name. The water is very shallow and calm — perfect for children and nervous swimmers — and the protected position means almost no waves even when the Meltemi wind picks up elsewhere. There's a reliable taverna right on the beach, which does excellent fresh fish at lunchtime.

Our Tip

From Agios Georgios, a small boat runs day trips (in season) to the island of Despotiko — an uninhabited island with a stunning archaeological site and one of the most pristine beaches in the Cyclades. Absolutely worth it.

The Hidden Gems

Sifneikos Beach

Named because it faces the island of Sifnos in the distance, this small beach on the west coast rewards the short hike required to reach it. The water is crystal-clear and rarely crowded, even in high season. Bring your own water and snacks — there are no facilities — but the solitude and scenery more than compensate.

Glyfa Beach

On the northern tip of the island, Glyfa is a quiet, pebble-and-sand beach that sees very few tourists. The drive there on a dirt track is part of the adventure. The water is deep and clear, and the large rocks provide natural shade in the afternoon. We send our guests there when they want to feel like they have the whole island to themselves.

Practical Tips for Beach Days in Antiparos

Most beaches are easily reached by car or scooter — we recommend renting a scooter or quad bike from one of the rental shops near the harbour for maximum flexibility. A few tips from experience:

Parking: Arrive before 10am in July and August to get a spot at Faneromeni. At other beaches, parking is rarely an issue.
Shade: The Greek sun is intense. Most beaches offer sunbed and umbrella rentals for €8–12/day. Bring your own if you prefer.
Wind: Antiparos is sheltered from the Meltemi by the island of Paros, but some east-facing beaches can get choppy in the afternoons. Faneromeni is generally calm.
Snorkelling: The rocky coves around the island are exceptional for snorkelling — clear water, starfish, octopus. Bring a mask.
