Eating well in Antiparos is easy — the island has a surprising number of excellent restaurants for its small size, and the quality of ingredients (fresh fish landed at the harbour every morning, local produce, excellent olive oil) means even a simple meal feels special. After years of eating our way around the island, here are the places we recommend to every guest.

Our Top Picks

Captain Pipinos taverna
Fresh Fish

Captain Pipinos

The best fresh fish taverna on the island, full stop. Captain Pipinos sits right at the water's edge near the harbour, and the menu changes daily depending on what was caught that morning. Order the grilled octopus, the sea bass, and whatever whole fish the owner recommends. Book in advance in July and August — it fills up fast. Open for lunch and dinner.

Traditional taverna Antiparos
Traditional Greek

Klimataria

A true village taverna in the heart of Antiparos Hora, serving traditional Greek food under a canopy of vines. The slow-cooked lamb is legendary, and the mezze spread — tzatziki, melitzanosalata, kolokythokeftedes — is the best on the island. The kind of place you come for dinner and end up staying for another carafe of house wine.

Lolo's

At the harbour, Lolo's is perfect for a relaxed lunch or an evening watching the boats. The menu is a mix of classic Greek dishes and lighter options — fresh salads, grilled vegetables, excellent calamari. Great for families, and the view of the ferry crossing from Paros adds a pleasant backdrop. Service is friendly and unhurried.

When to Go

In high season (July–August) the harbour restaurants fill up quickly after 8pm. Either eat early (before 7:30pm) or book ahead. Outside these months, just show up whenever you're hungry — the pace is wonderfully relaxed.

For Breakfast & Coffee

The Bakery in the Village Square

Start your mornings at the traditional bakery just off the main square. Fresh spanakopita (spinach pie), tiropita (cheese pie), and koulouri come out of the oven from 7am. Pair with a Greek coffee at one of the cafés on the square and you have the perfect Antiparos morning ritual. The locals all do this — and after a day or two, your guests will too.

Café Culture at the Harbour

Several small cafés line the harbour road and open early. They serve excellent Greek coffee (either freddo espresso in summer or a hot ellinikos), fresh juices, and simple breakfast plates. Ideal if you're taking the early morning ferry to explore Paros for the day.

For Drinks & Evenings

Antiparos has a surprisingly lively nightlife scene for an island of its size, particularly in summer. The main square comes alive after 10pm, with several bars and music venues. But what makes Antiparos special is that the atmosphere stays relaxed — you won't find the aggressive party scene of Mykonos. People are here to enjoy themselves quietly, not to be seen.

For sunset drinks, the bars along the harbour road face west and offer stunning views over the water towards Paros. A glass of cold white wine or an Aperol spritz at 7pm is one of the island's simple pleasures.

Our Advice to Guests

The village is small enough to explore on foot in 20 minutes. The best discovery method: wander the narrow streets behind the main square, and stop wherever looks good. You're unlikely to have a bad meal in Antiparos.
